Power chords
A power chord contains only two different notes: the root and the fifth. It is neither major nor minor, which is why it fits almost anywhere, and it is the workhorse of rock guitar. Power chords are written with a 5 after the root note: E5, A5, G5. This page has two parts: the three open power chords, and the movable shapes that let you play a power chord on any root note. Each entry is a level 3 heading.
